Bobby Jack “BJ” Kirkpatrick, 80, died Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his son’s home in Independence, Missouri.
Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Serving as his pallbearers are, Sam Dolezalek, Louis Dolezalek, Jay Friend, Roy Flowers, Jesse Jackson and Brian Lammers.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
BJ was born on November 16, 1935 in Ector, Texas, the son of William Henderson and Elsie Iva Lemon Kirkpatrick. He and Stella Sexton were married in Denison on May 4, 1956. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2016. He worked as a carman for the railroad until he retired and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Kirkpatrick and his wife, Susan of Independence, MO; two grandsons, Michael Kirkpatrick and Matthew Kirkpatrick and two great-granddaughters, Leia Kirkpatrick and Ellie Kirkpatrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Stella; son, Michael Kirkpatrick and brothers, Ray Kirkpatrick and Don Kirkpatrick.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
