Denison

Cheryl Lavon Cherry Masters, 67, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Texoma Medical Center.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery. Reverend Brett Castle will officiate.

Cheryl was born in Dallas, Texas on January 8, 1945 to Jasper Bennett and Ruby Lucille Brown Cherry. She came to Denison at the age of six weeks and was raised by her grandmother, Ollie Brown.

She married Jimmy William Masters, February 14, 1969 in Sherman, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1987. Cheryl worked for the Denison Public Schools as a teacher's aide with kindergarten and Special Education programs. She also worked for Quality and Red River Home Health Care.

She had a tender and loving heart for elderly folks, animals and children. She did volunteer work as a music leader at various nursing homes in the area, especially Homestead of Denison. Her goal in life was to serve the Lord and make people laugh. Singing specials at her church, East Baptist, and making crafts for her church and friends was a joy for her. She also loved to collect Elvis memorabilia.

She is survived by her son, Wille Masters of Denison; three daughters, Lisa Berg of Hinton, Oklahoma, Rachel Spears of Paris, Texas and Winnie Gant of Mississippi; six grandchildren, Brittany Gant, Tiffany Gant, Katelyn Dennis, Thomas Miller, Emma Oakes and Paisley Marie Gant; two great-grandchildren, Thomas Bradley Miller and Jaycen Alexander Miller; sister, Bonnie Raines of Fort Worth, Texas and life long friend, Melba Cannaday of Denison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; two sisters, Revinia Thomas and Voncille Cherry; parents and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers Cheryl requested donations in her memory be made to: Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 6977 Main St., Houston, TX 77030 or the Memorial and Honor Program-F, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905
