Dean Farnsworth Bennett, age 87, of Pottsboro, Texas passed away peacefully August 11, 2022 at his home.
He was born January 24, 1935 in Litchfield, Nebraska to Harry Lee and Florence (Farnsworth) Bennett.
Dean graduated from Litchfield High School Class of 1951. He studied Genera Education at the University of Nebraska. Dean enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1954. During this time, he met his loving wife Christine in Las Vegas, Nevada and they married March 5, 1960. After 20 years of service, he retired from the Navy in 1974 as a Data Processing Master Chief. He went on to work as a Systems Analyst for 11 years, while earning his Associates Degree in Data Processing from Grayson County College. Upon doing so, he went to work for the City of Richardson as a Senior Programmer Analyst. Where he retired from in 2000 after 14 years.
Dean was a member of Lakeway United Methodist Church. He loved to travel in his RV, fishing, gardening, and spending cherished time with his family.
Left to celebrate his memory are his daughter Deana Killough and husband Lynn. Three grandchildren Mandee, Stormy, and Tyler Simpson. Five great grandchildren Trevor, Harliegh, Rylee, Chasen, and Maverick. And, one great great grandchild Arrisa. He also had two grandchildren in heart Stacey and Michael.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Christine, daughter Lisa Simpson, and three brothers Roger, Harold, and Paul Bennett.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel, 511 W. Hwy 120, Pottsboro Texas 75076. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 A.M. prior to the service. Following the service, a procession will make it’s way to Georgetown Cemetery, 539 Cemetery Road, Pottsboro Texas for a committal service with military honors.
Pallbearers are Lynn Killough, Steve Prehara, and grandsons Trevor Holder, Chasen Holder, Rylee Farley, and Maverick Gonzalez.
