I will always remember seeing Derek at the simple cells show in Dallas several months ago. He was so ill yet full of smiles and cheer for everyone who talked to him. I mentioned how happy I was that he was the one who married my son Chris and Rachel. He beamed up at me and said”what a truly blessed day that was for me”. I will treasure that moment in time forever. My son Chris always said(and I totally agree) that Derek was the purest soul he had ever had the pleasure to know. Derek not only believed in his faith…he lived it.

So blessed to of known Derek and Misty. Met Misty when I was 15 at the Christian Bookstore where she worked. She introduced to me to her man Derek. He was always so kind and sweet. I loved the way Derek looked at Misty. Their marriage was beautiful. I also remember Derek playing music at Street Light youth in Pottsboro. I loved the way he worshiped and was so in love with Jesus. He had a passion for the young generation.
