Don White

Don White

April 26, 1939 - April 18, 2024

Donald D. White was born on April 26, 1939, to Edwin and Ethel White. He passed away peacefully at his home in Pottsboro, Texas on April 18, 2024.

After traveling in his early years, the family settled in Dallas, Texas. Don attended Crozier Tech High School in Dallas, but school was not his thing, he joined the Army serving 4 years. He was an MP and stationed in Germany for the most part. After the service he returned to Dallas and married Wanda Joy Duke, his first sweetheart. They had 3 children and a happy life until Joy developed cancer and died too young.

He worked at Purex in Dallas for many years, with his parents helping to raise his young children. Later he bought some land outside of Pottsboro, Tx. and built his own house with the help of friends and family. He went to work for Payless Cashway Lumber in Sherman for several years and then for a construction company as foreman for their remodeling and construction of new projects around the United States. He traveled all over the country overseeing jobs including one in Puerto Rico. He knew his construction business and could build most anything he put his mind too.

He always loved the lake and being in or on the water. He was a certified scuba diver in his younger years.

He loved animals and over the years had horses, cows, rabbits and birds. He loved to be outside, mowing or planting something or just sitting on the porch watching the birds.

He is survived by his three children, Donnette Wilson and her spouse, Charlie, of Pottsboro, Texas; Darrell White and his spouse, Traci White, of Sherman, Texas; and Kelly White of Denison, Texas. Two Siblings, Kay Thompson, of Cawker City, KS and Bob White, of San Fransico, CA.  Additionally, he leaves behind his devoted partner of 22 years, Susan Grant, of Pottsboro, Texas,

Donald’s legacy of love extends to his 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

In addition to his immediate family, Donald was a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.

Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda Joy White, and both his parents Edwin and Ethel White.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel, 511 FM 120, Pottsboro, Texas 75076. Family will receive friends during a visitation at 10 AM prior to the service. Following the service, a graveside will be held at Georgetown Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County or the American Legion Post 231 Cancer Research.
