Georgie Evelyn Shelby of Pottsboro, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2023. She was born on June 19, 1936, in Chalk Bluff, Texas to Walter Lee and Dora Linder (Killion) Moore.
Georgie was well known for her professional cake decorating and her love for crafting and quilting. She was very passionate about gardening and canning as well. Her love for God led her to doing many volunteer activities for many churches, such as a missionette leader, teacher, and a leader of women’s ministries as well as many other volunteer services for the church. Georgie married W.T. Shelby on December 25, 1954, in Temple, Texas. As a proud wife of a United States Air Force officer, she was faithful in her service at the home. She loved her family and took great care of her children. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam Russell and husband Tom of Pottsboro, Texas; Cindy Rodgers and husband Mike of Sherman, Texas; granddaughters, Christy Hale and husband Matthew of Bellevue, Nebraska; Rebecca Harris and husband Tanner of Sherman, Texas; grandson, Robert Rhew and wife Heather of Savoy, Texas; 6 great grandchildren, Kimmie, Michael, Wayland, Sophia, Aubrey, Rowan; 2 nephews, Richard Allen and Terry Allen; and niece, Reba Cowles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W.T. Shelby; and 3 siblings, Frances Allen, J.W. Moore, and Walter Moore.
A graveside service will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the Georgetown Cemetery, 540 Cemetery Road, Pottsboro, Texas 75076. Family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 6 to 8 PM at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home, 511 FM 120, Pottsboro, Texas 75076.
