Jane Mygrants, 65, died at Texoma Medical Center on Sunday, January 11, 2015.
Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Jody Shires, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Serving as her pallbearers will be, Josh Mygrants, Michael Andrew Mygrants, Robert Grosz, Jody L. Shires, Jr., Robert Garland and Buck Spears. Honorary pallbearer will be Landen Mygrants.
Jane was born in Denison, Texas to J.T. and Tommie Jane Lashley Shires on July 16, 1949. She graduated from Denison High School in 1967 and attended college for one year. Jane and Michael Keith Mygrants were married in Denison on October 5, 1968. She was a lifelong member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and taught Bible School for many years. Jane was a homemaker, seamstress and worked for Levis. She liked to garden, paint and made clothes for her grandchildren’s dolls. She was the mayor of Comanche III Village at Fort Hood for two years, appointed by General Shoemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Michael “Mike” of Denison; sons, Michael Joe Mygrants and his wife, Maritza of Temecula, California, Patrick Keith Mygrants and his wife, Samantha of Van Alstyne and Alfred Willis Mygrants and his wife, Shanda of Anna; brother, Reverend Jody Lee Shires, Sr. of Denison; sisters, Mary Grosz and her husband, Ron of Denison, Connie Baker and her husband, Sandy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wanda Odom of Denison and Dr. Wilma Shires of Durant; ten grandchildren and 11/2 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Tommie Shires.
The family requests memorials to St. Judes, Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
