Jasper Junior Gunter went to be with his Lord on October 27, 2015. He was born January 5, 1932 South of Bonham, TX to Jasper William Gunter and Debbie Jane Morris Gunter. He married Nancy Shipley Woodrum in 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; four brothers, Harvey William Gunter, Frank Rayborn Gunter, Fred Morris Gunter, and Hugh Wesley Gunter. Five sisters, Annie Pauline Gunter Williams, Laura Maybell Gunter Gilbert, Jessie Jewel Gunter Crawford, Maggie Estelle Gunter Thornhill, and Hattie Bernice Gunter. He is survived by one sister, Bulah Hale and husband, Sam. One stepson, Gary Woodrum; one step grandson Terry Ray Fitch and wife, Kristen; two step great – granddaughters, Courtney Reynolds and husband, James, Kaley Ellis and husband, Quentin; one step great-great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews, and three sister-in-law’s, Pat Gunter, Anna Gunter Swoda and Ella Kay Gunter Beal.
He was a good Christian man. He was Baptist by faith until his marriage in 2005. He joined the Nazarene Church with his wife at the time. He was very kind and caring to his Mother and the rest of his family and friends. He served in the US Army and was a member of the Disabled Veterans for many years.
Viewing will be Wednesday night from 6-7 p.m. at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Michael Daniels officiating.
We would like to extend our thanks of appreciation to The Terrace Nursing Home and to the Guardian Hospice for their excellent care of Jasper during his stay there.
