Jerry L Hopper

Jerry L. Hopper, 78 passed away surrounded by his loving family Friday, November 16th at his residence. He was born on July 17, 1940 in Howe, TX, to William and Pauline Hopper. He attended and graduated from Denison High School in 1958. While in high school, Jerry played football and baseball. He met the love of his life, Beverly Walker and they married on May 2, 1957. Jerry and Beverly had four children: Debbie Ferman and her husband Richard of Sherman, TX, Renee Vrana and Felton Smith of Denison, TX, Gloria Monette Whipple and Scott Nicholas of Denison, TX and Jerry Mark (deceased). Jerry has ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Monica Waters and her husband Jon of Richardson, TX and their children Blake and Molly Valerie Ferman of Sherman, TX and her sons Tristan and Trevor, Tiffany Oliphant of Sherman, TX and her sons Gavin and Preston, Erin Ferman of Richardson, TX and her daughter Grace, Sarah Ferman of Washington, DC, Jackie Evatt and her husband Chris of San Angelo, TX and their children Carter and Cadence, Rachelle Franks and Kevin Cheairs of Bells, TX and their children Will, Hudson and Autumn, Colton Franks of Denison, TX, Wade Whipple and wife Tabitha of Denison, TX, Maddison Nicholas of Denison, TX, Megan Leann and Aston Dejuan Hughes of Denison, TX and their children Kenslie Faith Goldston, AJ Hughes Jr. and Alana Grace Hughes.
Jerry’s career included several years with Lankford Roofing, Cole Services and Lowry Construction. Jerry loved to ride around in the country pointing out where this aunt or that grandmother or where that cousin used to live. He knew all the back roads in many counties and the location of towns most people have never heard of.
Jerry was proceeded in death by his parents, William “Hop” and Ida Pauline Hopper, his son Jerry Mark Hopper, his brother Donald, his sisters Paula and Peggy and his beloved wife Beverly.
Jerry will also be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Kita Hempkins and husband Robert of Denison, Sister-in-law Kathleen Roberts and husband Kevin of Frisco, Aunt Dee Gainer and cousins Pete Gainer-Young, Gary Medcalf and Reggie Medcalf.
Family visitation will be 5:30p.m.-7 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home with Horace Groff officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Cemetery. Serving as his pallbearers are: Wade Whipple, David Lowry, Preston Oliphant, Mike Ciacco, Gavin Oliphant and Blake Waters. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
