L’Donna Williams Trapp, 75, of McKinney, formerly of Denison, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Presbyterian Village North Nursing Home in Dallas.
L’Donna was born on August 20, 1939 in Vinita, Oklahoma to L.D. and Lona Pearl Purser Costley. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist College and was working to obtain her Master’s Degree from the University of Houston. Mrs. Trapp touched many young lives throughout her long career as an English teacher. She also taught Speech and Drama and worked with many different grades throughout the years. L’Donna loved sewing and was a huge sports fan, especially when it came to Texas teams or watching her grandsons play. After retiring from teaching, she owned and operated “Silver Wings Embroidery” on Main St. in Denison. She married Daryl Williams in Denison in the late 70’s and then after his passing she later married James Trapp also in Denison. They both preceded her in death. L’Donna loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandsons. She was a member of Community North Baptist Church of McKinney and also a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Denison. She was very strong in her Baptist faith and was very active within her church and church families. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 7, 2015 at Community North Baptist Church in McKinney with Dr. Bruce Austin officiating. Burial will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Family visitation will be held at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home in Denison on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Survivors include her daughter, L’Tisha Slagle of McKinney; brother, Leland Costley and wife, Merrie of Leander, TX.; sister, Evelyn Cole of Lake Jackson, TX.; grandsons, Jaden Slagle of D.C., Alex Slagle of McKinney, and Zach Slagle of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother-in-law, Charles Cole; and two husbands.
In lieu of flowers the family asks memorials be made to Community North Baptist Church, 2500 Community Blvd., McKinney, TX. 75071; or to The American Breast Cancer Foundation 10400 Little Patuxent Parkway Suite 480, Columbia, MD 21044
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
