Lorna Combs

Lorna Jewell Combs of Pottsboro, Texas, passed away on June 13, 2023, at the age of 86. She was born on November 9, 1936, in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Joseph Lesley and Hattie Jewell (Gillham) Riggle.

Lorna was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a lady of many talents. Earlier in life, she was a machinist at Cessna and was the only female within that company. She was also a truck driver alongside her husband, Virgil. She was a faithful Christian and was a member at Lakeway United Methodist Church in Pottsboro, Texas. Lorna was an avid reader, piano player, and quilter. Lorna loved her family deeply and will be missed by all who knew her.

Lorna is survived by her seven children, David Combs and wife Sharon of Wills Point, Texas, Donald Combs of Pottsboro, Texas, Virgil Combs Jr. of Pottsboro, Texas, Chris Combs and wife Leann of Tyler, Texas, Steve Combs and wife Tammie of Josephine, Texas, Teresa Dean and husband Joseph of Texas, and Matthew Combs and wife Brenda of Payne, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Alysha Kennedy, Jimmy Coffey, Sara Combs, Joseph Dean, Amanda Ratchford, Zack Dean, Steven Combs, Dillen Dean, Lyndsay Cekander, and Amber Webb; fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers, David Riggle and wife Kay, Patrick Riggle and wife Julia, and Timothy Riggle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorna was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Chester Combs Sr., two children, Kent Richard Combs and Jewell Coffey; her parents; son-in-law, Jimmy (Bo) Coffey; and four siblings, Leslie Riggle, Bill Riggle, Richard Riggle, and Mike Riggle.

A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M., Friday, June 16, 2023, at Lakeway United Methodist Church, 15015 TX-289, Pottsboro, Texas 75076. Family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 6 to 8 P.M.
