Marlene’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and a vibrant spirit. On June 24, 1955, she joined hands in matrimony with Maynard David Week in her hometown of Rochester, Minnesota. They loved to travel together. Once married, their journey took them many places where they would live including Nebraska, Texas, and Australia, where they lived for 3 years. Together, they forged a bond that withstood the tests of time, creating a foundation of love and partnership that lasted throughout their remarkable journey together.
From an early age, Marlene displayed a passion for life, engaging in activities that brought her immense joy. Growing up, she was known for her love for ice skating and gymnastics. Her commitment to these pursuits showcased her dedication and discipline, traits that would accompany her throughout her life.
Marlene was a cherished member of the Parkside Baptist Church in Denison, where her faith played a central role in shaping her character and guiding her actions. Her spirituality was a source of strength and comfort, providing solace to both herself and those fortunate enough to share in her company. She was deeply involved with Bible study and church at The Forum where she lived in Phoenix, Arizona for the last two and a half years.
Her zest for life extended beyond the spiritual realm. Marlene found joy in playing the piano, water skiing, showcasing her prowess on the tennis court, and exploring the depths of the ocean through scuba diving. She also had a passion for singing and dancing. Her diverse interests illuminated the richness of her character and the fullness with which she embraced the world around her.
An avid traveler, Marlene cultivated a deep appreciation for different cultures and experiences. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world, creating memories that will forever be cherished by those who accompanied her on these journeys.
In addition to her diverse pursuits, Marlene also expressed her creativity through ceramics, leaving behind beautiful pieces that serve as lasting reminders of her artistic talent and passion.
Marlene Week is survived by her devoted spouse, Maynard Week of Pottsboro, Texas; her three children, Sheryl Vadala and husband Rob of Coppell, Texas; Susan Ray and husband Douglas of Weatherford, Texas; and Barbara Week of Phoenix, Arizona. Marlene’s legacy continues through her two cherished grandchildren, Suzanne Vadala and Kellie Vadala, as well as her great-grandson, Hunter. She is also remembered fondly by her two brothers and two sisters.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Roessler and Loretta Palmer, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth that will endure in the hearts of those who knew her.
A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Johnson-Moore Chapel in Pottsboro, 511 FM 120, Pottsboro, Texas 75076. The family will receive friends during a visitation at 12 P.M. one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Georgetown Cemetery, 540 Cemetery Rd, Pottsboro, Texas.
