Mary Elizabeth Highlander of Pottsboro, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2023. She was born on December 28, 1930, in Texarkana, Texas to James Earl Wagner and Thelma Wagner.

Mary Elizabeth Highlander lived a full and wonderful life. She met Stanley in 1981. Mary and Stanley were enjoying their passion of square dancing when they were both without a dance partner. It was then that they found one another on the dance floor. They became dance partners and fell in love. They were married on January 11, 1982. Mary also enjoyed spending time with Stanley going to car shows and loved to cook for her family. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church and was involved with the Monday Morning Ministry (M&M), where they would pray for and send cards to their members who were ill and unable to attend services. Mary’s greatest passion was spending time with her family, especially looking forward to her grandkids and great grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley Highlander of Pottsboro, Texas; brother, Charles Ray Wagner and wife Retha of Hugoton, Kansas; son, Red Marshal and wife Laura of Seward, Alaska; granddaughter, Sonya Hibbetts of Seward, Alaska; daughter, Liz Cassell and husband Joel of Pottsboro, Texas; granddaughter, Misty Cassell of Pottsboro, Texas; great granddaughter, Alea Hewitt of Madill, Oklahoma; great great granddaughter, Taylynn Goff of Madill Oklahoma; great granddaughter Caylee Hewitt of Madill, Oklahoma; grandson Kyle Cassell and wife Casey of Collinsville, Texas; great grandsons, Hunter and Kaleb Cassell of Collinsville, Texas; son Boyd Highlander and family of Tom Bean, Texas; son Stuart Highlander and family of Decator, Texas; and son Kevin Highlander and family of Dallas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Cary Marshal; and great granddaughter, Halee Michelle Hewitt.

A service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Hagerman Baptist Church, 4619 Refuge Rd. Sherman, Texas 75092. Following the service, there will be a committal service at Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation and a luncheon will be held prior to the service from 12-2 PM, Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
