Robert Carlton Bauer, “Bob” to all who knew and loved him, passed away on October 20, 2023, at the age of 89. Bob was born on June 9, 1934, in Houston TX. He touched the lives of many with his warmth, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his family, community, and country. He was a kind man who deeply loved his children and grandchildren, and he was so very proud of them all.
Bob met his wife, Eloise, on a blind date. They married a year later in 1959 in Dallas, TX. Together they had their children Robin and Cary. During their years together in Arlington, TX, Bob became a respected successful custom home builder in Arlington, TX. Not settling for retirement, Bob relocated to Pottsboro, TX. He bought an old motel known as Holiday on Texoma, refurbished it and operated his hospitality business for over 30 years. His favorite and most fun guests were the many Lake Texoma fishing guides and their clients. During these years, he was an active member of the Pottsboro Chamber of Commerce. He sold his motel business in his seventies and not being able to sit idle, he restored a San Manuel sailboat. Then at 80 years old he began his 2yr passion project, the complete restoration of his Willys Jeep, a 1966 CJ5A Jeep.
Robert’s legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his daughter, Robin Foster of New Braunfels, Texas, and his son, Cary Bauer, and wife, Annette, of Pottsboro, Texas. His grandchildren, Carl Foster of New Braunfels, Texas, Cody Bauer and wife Brittany of Justin, Texas, and Courtni Bauer of Pottsboro, Texas, who remember him fondly and with deep love.
