Ruby Wallis, 86, died on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro. Reverend Neal Alexander will officiate. Serving as her pallbearers will be Wes Wallis, Toby Wallis, Jeff White, Tim White, John Massa and Nathan Hart.
Ruby was born in Chandler, Oklahoma on July 25, 1929, the daughter of Luther and Mary Elizabeth Fulton Harris. She was educated in Chandler, OK and graduated from North Texas Community College with her nursing degree. Ruby and Rogers C. Wallis, Sr. were married in Oklahoma City in January 1947. She and Rogers managed the Elks Club and VFW Lakesite on Lake Texoma before she became a nurse and worked for forty years. She was a long time resident of Pottsboro and Denison.
Ruby was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved babies and helped raise four sets of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her later years, she moved to Sherman and lived with her loving friend and caregiver, Virginia (Shorty) Hooks, who spoiled her rotten the last 5 years of her long life.
She is survived by her son, Ray Wallis and his wife, Sherry of Pottsboro; daughter, Susan Wallis Green of Houston; caregiver and friend, Virginia Hooks of Sherman; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Wallis of Casa Grande, AZ; brother, Clyle Harris of California; grandchildren, Wes Wallis, Toby Wallis, Tommie Massa, Jr., James Massa, Melissa Pettry, John Massa and Wendy Davenport; great-grandchild, Emily Petry and many more great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rogers Wallis, Sr.; son, Rogers Wallis, Jr., daughter, Sandra Massa; parents, Luther and Mary Elizabeth Harris; brothers, Leon Harris, Leroy Harris and James Harris and grandchildren, Rogers Wallis, III, Jason Wallis and Cary Wallis.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
