Tammy Adams Medart

POTTSBORO-
Tammy Adams Medart, 50, long-time beloved resident of Pottsboro, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at her home with her family by her side.
Tammy was born on December 7, 1964 in Texarkana, TX. to Roy W. and Mary A. Adams.
She graduated from Pottsboro High school and attended International Business School (IBS) where she received her Associates degree in Accounting. She also attended Grayson County Community College receiving an Associates degree in Teaching, and went on to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she was pursuing her Bachelors degree in Mathematics. Tammy and Brian Medart were married in Pottsboro, Texas on September 18, 1997.
Tammy was a very well organized and focused person who was the “Rock” of her family and many of her friends. She was very straight forward and gave the most honest advice and best direction to all who knew her. Known as the “caretaker to all”, she was willing to help in any way possible, and give anything and everything to anyone who needed it. Her children affectionately describe her as the “best mother you could ever ask for”. Mrs. Medart loved being “MawMaw” and spending time with her grandsons. She also enjoyed doing home improvements, and spending time with family and friends whether it be a simple gathering at home or on the lake enjoying the water and being out in the boat. She lived her life to the fullest and was a wonderful person that touched the lives of many. She will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, March 6, 2015 at Georgetown Baptist Church with Brother Josh Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Preston Bend Cemetery. Family visitation will be held Thursday night from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel.
Survivors include her mother, Annette Adams; husband, Brian Medart ; daughters, Samantha Scott Atkinson and fiancé, Cody Carr and Korey Medart, all of Pottsboro; grandsons, Jayden and Alexander Atkinson of Pottsboro; sisters, Belinda Chumley and husband, Hosea of Ft. Ii met Tammy at a 3rd grade basketball practice and my family grew so much bigger all because our girls became friends. I have never know anyone quite like Tammy, who could make me laugh until everything was funny. The world is less bright without you, my friend. I will love you and miss your beautiful smile for as long as I live.

I will never forget our talk on Fort Myers Beach, in Florida. I didn’t get to grow up with you as a child but that didn’t matter, we bonded and always picked up where we left off, even when you told me about myself like a big sister would do. I pray for comfort for “Big B” , Samantha and Korey. I know this is the beginning of another journey for the family. I love you all.

We have lost a remarkable and beautiful soul. This is what I remember about Tammy; she loved people. She had that gift of making one feel special, important, and welcomed. Always kind and always gracious. Tammy loved life and loved to laugh. She loved Brian, she loved her kids, and her grand kids passionately. She loved her family and friends with acceptance for who they were, and just enjoyed them as part of her life with no expectations for them to be different from who they were. (How incredible is that?!!) Distance stopped us from being able “to do life” together and I know I have missed out on an incredible gift of having spent more time with her. Tammy was just so easy to love and I value the times we did have during family gatherings and talking on the phone. As she battled cancer and suffered through the horrendous trials of medical treatments, Tammy exampled the truest form of courage (can it ever be fully measured?). She faced this terrible disease with dignity; looked it in the eye and lived life to the fullest in spite of it. She would not let anyone feel sorry for her. Tammy was ever an encouragement when I would ask her how she was doing. Her example of cherishing each day with family and friends is one of the truest forms of courage that I know. She will be missed, she will always be remembered, and she will always have a place in my heart.

We had the privilege of meeting the Medarts about 10 years ago. Living around the lake we would run into them around town. At some point we made it a point to be a part of their large circle of friends. They all accepted us in as if we had been a part of their lives forever. We were crushed when Tammy told us she had cancer. She was always so upbeat about the way she and Brian were going to tackle it. She always had a smile on her face when answering questions about her treatments. She fought the disease hard but with grace and dignity. I don’t know of anyone in her life that won’t miss her. Tammy was truly an amazing human being. Our prayers are that GOD will continue to hold this family in HIS loving arms.
