I first met Tim Shearer when I was 9 years old hunting dove in Ray Yards in Denison. My brother and I were in a field with the grass taller than me. Tim was an officer for the Denison Police Department and yelled at my brother to come to him keeping the shotgun up in the air. Tim asked my brother if he was alone and he said yes. Pointing at the gun barrel walking through the tall grass he said, “Then who’s gun is that.” I finally went up there and he told us, we could not hunt there. Tim was very professional, but was firm with his voice and reminding us what our parents would do to us if he took us in. Tim got a kick out of telling this story to everyone. Tim retired from Denison P.D. with 14 years of service, then came to work with us at the Sheriff’s Office and retired after serving 24 years 8 months. Tim then served 4 years as a reserve deputy for the Pottsboro Police Department. “You will be missed here on Earth my brother, but we know we will all be reunited with each other one day.” Tim Shearer EOW 12-13-2013. says:

I first met Tim about 16 years ago while he was working off duty security for Dillards. At the time I was considering on getting out of law enforcement and try something else. Tim told me that the sheriff’s office needed jailers. I applied as a deputy and later retired from the SO in 2004. Shortly afterwards I went to work with the Grayson College police department where I retired with the total of 34 years in law enforcement. I may have never gone back into law enforcement had it not been for Tim. I talked with him about a week before his death and he seemed happy about being retired. God bless his family. • Bill Irwin

    says:

Tim was one of my first supervisors in law enforcement. I was fresh out of the Army in 1979 when I went to work for Lt. Shearer and Sgt. Houston on the Denison Police Dept. I learned much from Tim. I used in those skills in Denison, then with the Sherman PD and then 25 years as an FBI Agent. I am saddened to hear of his passing, but grateful to have learned from him. You left your mark on the world. My condolences, SA Bill Irwin (FBI ret.) Berthoud Colorado
