Viola Jones Brown, 94, of Denison passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Baybrook Villlage Care and Rehab Center in McKinney.
A family visitation will be held 6-7 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Reverend Morgan Malone and Reverend Mark Mitchell will officiate.
Viola was born on December 1, 1920 in Hagerman, Texas to George C. and Fannie Shires Jones. She graduated from Denison High School. She and Albert Woodrow Brown were married in Durant, Oklahoma on September 29, 1942 with her sister and his brother as their attendants. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2006. She was a member of the First Baptist Church since the early 1950’s where she spent many years teaching Sunday School and was a member and past president of the Denison Texoma Lions Club. Viola was an immaculate housekeeper, avid Denison Yellow Jacket and Dallas Cowboys fan, loved to cook, sew, craft, garden and work in the yard. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Albert Brown and his wife, Mickey of Denison; daughter, Carol Light and her husband, Colin of Plano; sister, Violet Bruce of Sherman; grandchildren, Brian Robnett and his fiancé, Kathryn Andres, Britton Fuller and her husband, Timothy. Allison Arnold and her husband, Miles and Nathaniel Brown and his wife, Courtney; five great-grandchildren with one due to be born in February and many nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodrow and her brother, Herschel Jones
